Revis Trade Great For The Bucs

Going into the week of the 2013 NFL Draft, I knew that the man known as "Revis Island" would be traded from the New York Jets. The thing I didn't know was that it would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Looking at what Darrelle Revis was before he torn his ACL last year, the Bucs got a great deal by only giving up one 1st round pick and a conditional pick in next years draft.  Playing in the daunting NFC south where Drew Brees, Cam Newton, and Matt Ryan reside teams need a great secondary.

Upon the signing, Revis signed a 6 year, $96 million deal.  It will make Revis the highest paid defensive back in NFL history.  There is a twist however, the signing has no guaranteed money for the All-Pro.  This is very cool on his part for signing.  It shows me that he is wanting to earn his money coming off an injury. He wants to show the Bucs that he is worth the $96 million he just signed.  It is a very noble thing that I don't see much anymore in contract negotiations.  Hopefully, Revis can be the start of many signings to come!
